Grammar Girl Tips: Commas in Dates


Jane wants to know how to use commas with days of the week. 

Which is correct?

- Tuesday, January 21, 2014
- Tuesday January 21, 2014
With dates, when you have two words next to each other or two numbers next to each other, you need a comma to separate the two items. So Jane should write, "Tuesday, January 21, 2014"

    Thank you for this blog post. I always thought that it was the second one. But now I know how to write dates. This will help a lot for the grammar challenge.

      Thanks Mrs. Clayton. Like Young Seo, I always thought that I did not have to put a comma next to the day of the week. This will be very helpful when I write the date and in the grammar challenge.
